Frequently Asked Questions

Any urgent concerns should be directed to your booked/closest maternity unit

If your pregnancy becomes high-risk, I continue to support you alongside your NHS team, offering clear explanations, unbiased guidance, and evidence-based information so you can make confident decisions.

A 25% deposit secures your booking. The rest can be spread out with a payment plan — just as long as it’s completed by 36 weeks for pregnancy care, or before care begins for postnatal and single appointments.

I am covered by the Royal College of Nursing’s (RCN) indemnity scheme to provide antenatal and postnatal care. I also have access to an insurance product for complete birth care through Zest Midwives Ltd.

I can travel up to 1 hour from Linton, Cambridge. If you live further than this, please contact me to discuss. An extra charge for travel may be added.

There will be a full cancellation/refund policy, but generally, if care is cancelled or in the unfortunate event that a pregnancy ends early, a refund minus any care/expenses had will be issued.

The great thing about independent midwifery is its flexibility. If you or your baby are in hospital, I can visit you there, or we can rearrange your appointment for when you’re home. You won’t lose out.

Absolutely! I am available for visits at evenings, weekends and bank holidays. I also offer overnight postnatal support.

If any concerns arise during our appointments, I will call the hospital (with your permission) to escalate these to make a collaborative plan of care. Your handheld notes can be shared with the hospital and photocopied if required. If transfer is required during labour, I accompany you in the ambulance and continue clinical care until handed over to an NHS midwife. Following handover, I remain by your side to support in the hospital.

Yes, I’m registered with the NMC, I have their permission to use their logo on the website. I have changed from being registered with the RCM to the RCN as the RCN provide an indemnity scheme for independent midwives, the RCM does not. I have permission to use the RCN logo on the website as well as Zest’s logo.

No, not really, my first action would be to summon help by calling 999 and seeking to ensure safety of mother and baby at all times.
