As part of your pregnancy journey, you may need or choose to have different blood tests. I offer private blood testing in the comfort of your own home, with results sent directly to you and explained clearly so you always feel informed and supported.

Our Blood Testing Process

It’s important to know that you are entitled to routine blood testing free of charge through the NHS. Some hospitals may not accept private blood results, so it’s always best to check with your booked hospital before deciding on private testing.

Home Visit Blood Testing

All tests are carried out by me during a home visit, allowing you to remain in a familiar and comfortable environment throughout the process.

This approach helps ensure the experience is calm, discreet, and as stress free as possible, without the need to travel or wait in a clinical setting.

Clear Results and Ongoing Support

Once your results are available, I will take the time to talk through them with you in detail, answer any questions you may have, and ensure you feel informed and confident about the appropriate next steps.

  • Early pregnancy tests to give a clear picture of your health and identify any conditions that could affect your pregnancy. These include:
  • Blood group and antibody screen
  • Infectious disease testing (HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and Syphilis)
  • Screening for sickle cell and thalassaemia
  • Full Blood Count (FBC)
  • Glucose
  • Rubella antibody screening
  • Screening for Varicella Zoster, Cytomegalovirus and Toxoplasma antibodies

  • A blood test available from 10 weeks of pregnancy that looks at your baby’s DNA to screen for certain chromosomal conditions, including:
  • Down’s syndrome (Trisomy 21)
  • Edwards’ syndrome (Trisomy 18)
  • Patau’s syndrome (Trisomy 13)
  • There is also the option to find out your baby’s sex if you would like to know.

Group B Strep (GBS) Testing

  • Group B Streptococcus (GBS) is a common bacteria that many people carry without symptoms.
  • However, in a small number of cases it can cause serious infection in newborn babies during labour and birth.
  • Testing for GBS late in pregnancy gives you important information so you can make decisions about your birth plan and care.
  • The test is a simple, painless swab taken from the vagina and rectum, usually between 35–37 weeks of pregnancy. The swab is then sent to the laboratory, and results are usually available within a few days.
  • This test is optional, but many families choose it for reassurance and peace of mind in the final weeks of pregnancy.
